The Anthropomorphic Fandom

This is an essay to the Phoenix Academy of my interest in the Anthropomorphic, or also known as furry fandom. This essay illustrates it's meaning, purpose, and what it has done for me in my present day life. All wording within these pages are used within my best knowledge, so they shouldn't be taken as fact, more rather of opinion.
Before I knew of the furry fandom, my interest was more towards The Secret of NIMH. This movie inspired me to be into many things; drawing, nature, adventure, imagination, story writing, and of course, Rats. I'm sure most of you at the Academy remember my interest in Mice and Rats. I had a strong imagination, which was easy to set off with anything involving animals or nature.
My interest in the furry fandom started back in late 2001. I was in one of the Secret of NIMH fans chatroom. There, I met Abel DuSable, a fan of the furry fandom and cartoons that lived in Canada. After a while, we got to know each other a little better, and he told me about the furry fandom and asked me to join one of the TTA (Tiny Toon Adventures) groups. His furry character was a Sable, and I needed a character myself before I could join. I decided to become a Sable like him since it's a unique animal and there are not many of them around in the fandom.
One day I drew a picture of Abel's Sable character and asked him how it looked. He liked it, but his character didn't wear a long coat. I had only gotten the idea from a fan fiction story he was in that he wrote. The facial outlook really didn't look like him that much at all as well. Later on the next day I decided to make the picture I drew mine, and call the Sable on it my character. That's how my character was born. I gave him the name "Ludwig van Göff" for it's a name I admire as it sounds unique to me.
The fandom started off nicely for me. I made many friends online right off. I became more interested in my artistic and story writing skills. One of the main things about the furry fandom is art and stories. I've drawn over forty art drawings and written only two stories. Stories in which I have yet to finish. Mostly cause with story writing I have difficulty in staying on track with it. I'll end up having more ideas and want to move on to another thing before I can even finish. With art I don't have this problem. On average, it takes me from five to twenty-four hours to complete artwork. My artistic skills have gotten better over the years, but I'm still not as good as most of the people in the fandom. Some have skills that should be in art exhibits in my opinion.
