The Anthropomorphic Fandom (Page 3)

After that, I started to pick my friends out of the group by who I got along with best. I stayed in contact with them more and exchanged E-mails and AOL Instant Messager IDs so we could stay in touch. My Mother started to know my friends a little better and soon it was all right for me to go places with them without her. As long as I'd stay in touch with a cell phone everything was fine.

By early 2003, my loner profile in real life had ended. I had firends that were fun to be around, yet considerate enough to ask how I felt when I was down. I believe that one of the nicest things that happened that year, was when a gathering had just ended after attending the Lucky Village restaurant, and the group wanted to go to the Galleria afterwards. At the time, my Mother wasn't sure of letting me ride with any of them, so I had to wait for her to come pick me up and take me there herself. Gwaland and Rowena were the last two to leave the restaurant and were headed to the Galleria themselves. They offered me a ride, but I told them Mother was going to take me. With that said, unlike most people, they didn't want to leave me by myself. They wanted to keep me company until my Mother came for me. I said they could go cause they were missing the fun at the Galleria, but they said it was all right. That right there was when I knew I had a couple of great friends.

Eventually I started to go to people's houses to spend some time with them. The first was indeed Kwik Cheetah. I had met her at the Lucky Village restaurant and she liked my personality friend-wise. I came over to her place one day to help her move by packing boxes. That was indeed a nice time. She's a nice person, and one of the best furry artist I've known and has drawn many pictures of my character and others.

The furry fandom has brought me many hard to fine friends that are helpful, kind and understanding. Though there are people that dislike the fandom because they find it weird, etc. I don't know what to say about people who criticize the fandom before experiencing it. There are people out there that have written articles about us claiming this and that trying to get a story. Oddly enough, when people read the articles they believe it. You would think people nowadays would know that people like to stretch the truth just to get a story. Whatever sells as they say.
