Being inspired by several movies such as the Secret of NIMH, Willard was another movie that increased my interest in Rats. Willard is supposed to be a horror movie. It isn't to me by far. I have always loved Rats ever since I saw der Secret of NIMH many years ago, and even more after I got to know some real life Rats personally. Martha Montgomery was my most favorite pet Rat. Like most households, bringing a Rat into the house and claiming it's a pet of yours can be a shock to some people. Nevertheless, Rats make great pets. You cannot go to a pet store that sells them for snake feed and expect them to be tamed and trust you. To find the type of Rats that make good pets, you have to get them from a breeder; someone who has raised their Rat with care and love. Thus the Rat will most likely get used to anyone that treats it right much faster. Though I have in some cases gotten a Rat from a store that sells them as feed and they turned out to be wonderfully tamed.

   Being a Rat lover, it would always bother me to hear people pass judgment on them because of what they've "heard". When will people learn that you cannot look at life that way; that you have to experience things for yourself to have a better understanding. The problem with most people is that they have one bad incident with a pet or whatever, and claim that they're all like that. Animals are like Humans, they have their own personality and their own tastes. Do not judge one because of another. My Mother was a bit afraid of Rats at first, but when I showed her Martha, and she got to know her better, she would start to pick her up and play with her often. She couldn't believe how great of pets Rats really do make. In my opinion, people should get to know some things better before they judge them. People like to stretch the truth when things frighten them, we should all know that by now.
