18 Wheels of Steel: Across the Empire

Game Information

Every now and then I've spent my free-time creating companies for my '18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal' game, designing skins and company logos, along with editing parts of the game; like the city names, cargos, traffic, driver images; and the actual map itself. Welcome to a whole new game, 18 Wheels of Steel: Across the Empire!

For a while I've been working on two fanfictions that evolved from my interests in social realism. One is Secret of NIMH based, the other (and more recent) Redwall. Anyway, I love social realism in anthropomorphic animal style; and since I have a great interest in transportation, geography, engineering and designing, this project was a lot of fun.

What you'll see below are a bunch of trucking companies/dispatchers and their logos that I designed. Each one had to be given certain cargos, be placed in certain cities (some of which I came up with) and have some form of history. For some of you, just by looking at some of them you might be able to guess where I got the idea.

The game is set in the The United Mustelinae Empire (UME), which contains the provinces of Hearthwin, Northlands, and Southsward. It is basicly a combination of Redwall's map and NIMH in modern times. Awkward? Yes, as both fanfictions take place from different parts of the world; but it was fun anyway.

Added towns and cities for the world of Redwall: Riftgard (capital of the Northlands), Scarnmeadow, Walnut Bend, Fort Glenscar (capital of Hearthwin), Western Coast, Salamandastron, Noonvale, Loamhedge, Redwall, Lake Ruingate, Camp Tussock, Holt Lutra, Holt Mossguard, Marshwood Hills, Slagars Trail, Sampetra Isle, Terramort Isle, Hawthorne, Mossflower City, Tribe of Luke, St. Urthound, Suger Ridge, E. Pine Grove, Lands End, Southsward Kingdom (capital of Southsward), and Shackelford.

Credits: I give credit to SoccerStudio, as they made the base of the map for me to edit. Also dieseldogg and pete379jp, who designed the shape (prism) of most of the trailers. I would also like to thank Smarty, Matt Evans, Petefan-387, Mark, Matthew, Pigpen, and KevZ for all the neat trucks to work with. I credit these people for making the trucks and trailers for me to skin. They had no part in making this edited version of the game.

Scenery and Landmarks

Here is a collection of screen shots taken from my edited game showing famous scenery and landmarks based on my fanfiction story.

Name

Information

Bestwestern

The is the central location of the game for me. My home is the second one from the left.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Great South Stream

Redwall based. The Great South Stream is a broad stream, just a little smaller than a true river, graced with many tributaries. This waterway flows under the mountains separating Mossflower Woods from Salamandastron, including Bat Mountpit, and eventually drains into the Great Inland Lake.

Broadstream River

Redwall based. The Broadstream River was a wide, fast-flowing stream which came from the north, split into two channels (one of which led to Noonvale and rejoined the other in a waterfall) and turned east from there, emptying into the sea south of Fort Marshank. The Broadstream River was especially beautiful, shaded on its banks by trees and thick foliage, and teeming with various fish such as pikes, tenches and perches.

Castle Floret

The seat of government in the kindsom of Southsward, Hearthwin.

Hurricane

This was a fun project to work on. Using several items and graphics in the game's map editor, I created a hurricane scene on the coast of Biloxi, Mississippi.

Memoiral Grove Pavillon

The Memoiral Grove Pavillon, is a concert amphitheatre/theme park located in Riftgard, Northlands. It caters to both the performing arts and contemporary artists and is also available for rental. It is owned and operated by the Pure Ferrets for the performing arts and is a non-profit organization.

Palace of Ublaz

Redwall Abbey

I did the best I could with Redwall Abbey.

Riftgard Fortress

Quite a sight.

The River Moss

Redwall based. The River Moss is a large river which runs from the east, flows through Mossflower Woods, meanders north of Redwall Abbey, fords the Northern Path, and empties into the Western Sea.

Salamandastron Memoiral

The once mighty stronghold of Badger Lords and Long Patrol Hares, is now a memoiral on the shores of the city of Salamandastron, Hearthwin. The Long Patrol still exists in my game, but the mountain has been abandoned for hundreds of years.

The 'Tall Rocks'

A group of huge, tall rocks located on the nothern half of the western coast. This deadly hazard spelled death to any ship unlucky enough to hit them; even the powerful Goreleech was splintered in two as it crashed upon the rocks.

After the Goreleech crashed, it was split into two halves with one side pinned between two rocks; the other half fell into the sea. Many years later, without preservation, the other half rotted, fell and sunk into the sea.
